The Rich Man and Lazarus (Part II)
Topic: Hell
And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. (Luke 16:26 KJV)
In the previous message, I discussed the first two things about Hell—a place of torment and a place of bringing back to remembrance. We must that Hell is a real place and it’s reality. In Numbers 16, we read that God opened the land to send the Korah’s family into the hell without experiencing death due to their rebellion against God and Moses. However, God did not create the hell for anyone to go in and live there eternality, except Satan and his demonic angels. We have choice to there if we’d decide to reject God and live according to our wills.
As Jesus enclosed the story of the rich man and Lazarus, He said that there is a great gap between Heaven and Hell that no one could cross over. No one can able to free from Hell. I watch a couple TBN Programs that people had a dream that went through Hell and come back to life again. I’m not sure about TBN viewer’s testimonies, because God’s Words said no one would able to escape from Hell once to go in.
“Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house: For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.” (Luke 16:27-31.)
Can you feel the rich man’s agony as you read Luke 16:27-31? Jesus said that the hell is an everlasting fireplace (Matthew 25:41). We cannot imagine the great pain of this rich man in Luke 16. If the poor is suffering here on earth while the rich man is enjoying his richest life, then the rich man will be looking for suffering in Hell forever. Jesus will do the opposite with the greedy man who has been ignoring the homeless people.
Even this message may be harsh for us to swallow, but we need this as an alarm for ourselves. This message is not a popular message today, because most today’s preachers have forgotten to grab the true message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Most of their messages may about why Jesus died and raised from the dead, but it’s not relate to Hell. Jesus didn’t die and raise from the dead was not just for us to receive the gift of salvation, but to save ourselves from going to Hell.
