Battle against the Enemy: Understanding Satan's Strategy (Part XIII)
Topic: Spiritual War

Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward hungry. (Matthew 4:1-2 KJV)

Before we discuss each temptation that Jesus faced, let's focus on fasting. Fasting is not a diet or skipping a meal. It involves skipping a meal and spending quality time with God in prayer. It is a time for us to regenerate our spiritual being with God. Even though we can't fast for forty days straight, we can do whatever we can to spend quality time with God daily.

We might wonder why Jesus fasted for forty days without food and drink. If we turn to Exodus 24, we see Moses spent forty days on Mount Sinai with God, having nothing to eat or drink.  Yet, Moses came down from the mountain with normal, but brighter skin. Even though it is not a mystery how those two individuals survive without food and drink for forty days, we must realize that God is in control. Jesus said in Matthew 6:32, "…for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things." Moses didn't feel hungry while on the mountain for forty days. God was in control.

Jesus said in Matthew 6:33, " But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." If you want a new job opportunity, seek God's face. Most of today's pastors preach that we should seek God's hand if we want more. That's no, no. We need to bless God so He can bless us with many things. We do not need to worry about what we need. Instead, we need to seek God.
